Smart Labs innovation

We take innovation seriously, so we built Smart Labs. It’s our idea incubator, allowing us to test new features to help members engage with their financial futures.

Our mission

One of the most interesting things about pensions is that many people just don’t like thinking about them. The Smart labs mission is to overcome this psychological hurdle by using a scientific approach to research and design. Our team, run by Cognitive Scientist Dr Harry Brignull, applies principles of Behavioural Economics to the features we design, aiming to improve financial outcomes for our members.

How it works

We invite a segment of scheme members to participate in a beta trial.

We use analytics and AB tests to understand the effectiveness of our designs.

Feedback cycles

We use our findings to make design improvements. Successful betas get launched on the Smart platform.
