Gordon Wilson

Chairman of the board of directors

Gordon’s career spans over three decades, having held key leadership positions in both technology and pensions businesses. Gordon was the CEO of Advanced for over eight years and recently stepped down to start his non-executive career. Advanced is a business focused on digital transformation, impacting 40 million people every day. Gordon is a board member of TechUK and chairs three other tech businesses: Zenitech, Imagesound and The Polaris Group. Previously, Gordon led the management team at Aquila Heywood, a leading pension software provider, and generated substantial growth for the business during his tenure.

Andrew Evans

Group Chief Executive, co-founder and board member

Andrew co-founded Smart to give real people simpler ways to save and access their savings throughout their lives. As the company has grown, world-leading institutions and governments have partnered with Smart, allowing us to help more people with their money. Previously, Andrew was an international managing director, with roles in banking and finance. He also works with cutting edge innovation foundations – awarding funding and offering advice to promising UK fintech companies and social entrepreneurs, including those who work with open banking.

Eoin Corcoran

Chief Financial Officer and board member

Eoin is responsible for Smart's finance and legal activities. With a strong background across organisations including KPMG, Eversheds as well as technology and B2B information services, Eoin's experience covers finance leadership, capital markets and fundraising, corporate, commercial and operational strategy, and M&A.

Neelam Patel

Non-Executive Director

Neelam Patel is General Counsel of MUFG Pension & Market Services. She leads the global legal and governance function across EMEA and APAC and advises on strategic initiatives, governance, regulatory matters and corporate transactions. A practising solicitor with more than 20 years' experience, Neelam has worked across both private practice and in-house leadership roles within the financial services sector. Her
experience spans corporate and commercial law, capital markets, governance and regulatory affairs, supporting businesses operating in complex and highly regulated environments. Prior to her appointment as General Counsel in 2024, Neelam held a number of senior leadership positions across MUFG Corporate Markets and MUFG Pension & Market Services, including roles with responsibility for legal, risk and compliance.

Charles Janeway

Non-Executive Director

Charles is a Principal at Aquiline Capital Partners. Prior to joining the firm in 2019, he was Head of Corporate Finance at Howden, a global (re)insurance intermediary headquartered in London. Charles previously worked at General Atlantic, where he focused on financial services and technology investments across Europe. He began his career as an investment banker at Barclays Capital.

Stephen Morana

Non-Executive Director

Stephen has two decades of experience in high-growth and disruptive technology-enabled businesses. He spent a decade as part of the senior management team at Betfair, where he was CFO during the IPO in 2010. After Betfair he moved to Zoopla, where he was again CFO during their successful IPO. In 2020 he joined Cazoo where he led their IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. Stephen was also audit committee chairman and then senior independent director at Entain plc the FTSE 100 business from 2016-2021, and has been a venture partner at Octopus Ventures.

James Devlin

Non-Executive Director

James Devlin is a Managing Director at 7RIDGE. 7RIDGE is a specialist private markets asset manager investing in the technologies transforming global financial markets. James was previously a Partner and co-founder of Fidelity International Strategic Ventures. He has backed over 20 fintech companies across North America, Europe and Asia in retirement, employee benefits, capital markets, brokerage, digital assets, RegTech and wealth management. These include regional and product category leaders that went on to exit to major strategic buyers. He was previously at Fidelity International and Eight Roads, a global venture and investment firm.

Sam Dobbyn

Non-Executive Director

Sam Dobbyn is an experienced board director and finance executive with expertise in corporate finance, capital markets, restructuring, and strategic asset realisation. He has over 20 years of experience working with listed companies, financial institutions, and investment businesses, helping organisations navigate complex financial and operational challenges while maximising long-term shareholder value. Sam currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Chrysalis Investments and a Board Director of Allied Minds, where he supports the strategic management and realisation of venture capital portfolios. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Urban Exposure PLC, leading the company through its successful wind-down. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance and investor relations roles at TP ICAP and Brit PLC, following positions at Deloitte and PwC.
